A Lancashire-based duo, comprising Gary (b. Leigh, Lancashire, England) and Vera (b. Walkden, Lancashire, England). Formed in 1974, the duo have become well-known for their brand of humour, having performed at a variety of venues from folk clubs to the Royal Albert Hall, London, and the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. In addition to extensive television and radio work, they have toured worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Central America, the Middle East and Europe. Their earlier recordings were released on Topic Records, but for Stories, Songs And Humour, they switched to the now defunct Dingle’s Records. Gary and Vera’s live set can include anything from Vera’s clog dancing to back-projected slide shows, in addition to the songs and humour accompanied by a combination of guitar, accordion and piano. They have since produced their own albums independently.
