Artist Biography by

Chicago psych-rock band the Fifth Union comprised singer/bassist Ray Brodendorf, singer/drummer Ted Kieta and guitarists Steve Michaels and Bob Ocasio. The group issued its lone single "Love Is the Key to Peace" in 1967; that same summer, a chance meeting with Neil Young resulted in an invitation to tour the Midwest in support of Buffalo Springfield, but despite the exposure the Fifth Union never achieved critical mass and dissolved soon after. Kieta later switched to bass, relocated to Florida and with his brother Mike formed the progressive rock unit Imagine. No less than John Lennon produced their 1974 debut single, issued on Apple; Lennon's own Light Horse label released Imagine's first full-length effort, Images, Clear Skies and Rainbows.
