Artist Biography by

El Nino de Ronda, a flamenco singer from Ronda, Spain, was found and recorded by Alan Brown of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1955, as an illustration of flamenco that was more authentic than the fare usually presented to tourists. Accompanied only by guitarist Carretero, Nino recorded material for Brown that ended up on the release The Real Flamenco. It's fine from-the-gut flamenco, sparer in arrangement than most other recordings of the style (even those from the era that also appeared on the Tradition label), putting Nino's searing, trembling voice to the forefront.
