Does the world need yet another bassist named Eddie Edwards? Probably not, so there is a deep desire to have the Eddie Edwards who played bass with the Coon-Sanders Nighthawks be, for example, the British bassist of the same name who loves playing that style of music and could have done it very well but unfortunately wasn't born until more than three decades after the recordings were made. Other inconvenient excuses bar a variety of performers with this name from stepping forward to take credit. Not much is known about many of the sidemen involved with the Coon-Sanders Nighthawks, with whom this Edwards recorded in 1929. The bassists in the groups were literally in the middle of the leadership bubble, playing a rhythm section with drummer Carleton Coon and pianist Joe Sanders.
