An enterprising UK band that held the torch for electric folk by playing medieval tunes as if they were the Stranglers. Their recorded highlight came with the 1981 single ‘Benediction’/‘Douce Dame’. Although they disbanded in the same year, their influence was felt a couple of years later with the ‘rogue folk’ movement. By then, leader Paul James (b. 4 April 1957, Southampton, Hampshire, England; bagpipes/saxophone) and, a year later, Dave Shepherd (b. 7 April 1954, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England; fiddle) had joined Blowzabella.
