Artist Biography by

A lively Newcastle Upon Tyne/Irish family group, with main members, John ‘Da’ Doonan (d. 8 March 2002; flute, piccolo), Kevin Doonan (fiddle) and Mick Doonan (pipes). The trio are regularly augmented by Phil Murray (bass), and Stu Luckley (guitar, vocals), as well as a troupe of Irish step dancers. An excellent festival act, the high percentage of ex-Hedgehog Pie and Jack The Lad members ensures that their sets, though acoustic, have far more energy than some of the ‘electric’ bands. They frequently feature traditional arrangements of material by Buddy Holly and the Beatles, amongst others. Murray and Mick Doonan also play in the Wakefield-based soul and R&B band, the Solicitors.
