Venezuelan alternative pop/rock threesome Culto Oculto was formed in the late '80s, leaving the underground scene in 1995 to participate in a local new bands festival. In 1997, the band's debut album, called Flotar No Es Mas Que Existir, Un Movimiento Ondulatorio, was released by Mexican label Culebra Continental; a year later the album was released in its native country by Plutón Records. In 1999, Culto Oculto was nominated by the Venezuelan Pop & Rock Awards for Best Video, Best Live Performance, and Best Album. That same year, the group recorded BARalt000mix, released in the year 2000.
