Committed Christians even by Gospel music standards, the Couriers regularly donate one month out of their rigorous yearly work schedule to missionary work. Dave Kyllonen (b. Iowa, USA; bass, baritone, manager), Duane Nicholson (tenor) and Neil Enloe (vocals) specialise in highly emotive original material sung in a cappella form. Similarly, they have never countenanced any move into secular music, despite their distinctively melodic, accessible style. A typical live performance will conclude with 10 minutes of preaching by Kyllonen, who remains the group’s spiritual leader. The son of an Iowan preacher, he inherited what he calls the ‘pastor’s heart’ of his father. Enloe provides the musical cement to the group, having composed over 40 hymns and gospel songs including ‘He’s More Than Just A Swear Word’ and ‘The Cross Is My Statue Of Liberty’. The group appear regularly on religious musical telecasts, and have released more than 50 albums in their three decade-plus career. They continue to perform at an amazing 300 personal appearances every year, and show no signs of slowing down yet.
