Christopher & the Chaps recorded an extremely obscure single in the mid-'60s that is notable solely for the involvement of an unexpected figure. The A-side is a raw, unimpressive cover of Bob Dylan's "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)." The B-side is also somewhat in the garage-folk-rock vein. A group original, it was co-written by one Mike Lookofsky. Under the name Mike Brown, the keyboardist and composer would be the prime creative force of the best work of the Left Banke, which began their career shortly afterward. The single was arranged by John Abbott, who would continue to do some arranging on records that Brown recorded with the Left Banke and Montage.
