This vocal quintet was formed in 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, USA, by Jay Wax, Gary Banks, Stu Nadel, Ruben Crespo and Joe Cooper. Following the recording of their first demo tape, Banks and Nadel were replaced by Paul Rothenberg and Stephanie Deutsch, who in turn was replaced by Nat Schliefer. With this line-up the Carolons recorded a version of ‘Let It Please Be You’ and then signed to Mellomood Records, who in April 1964 released a re-recorded version as a single, backed with ‘Let’s Make Love Tonight’. Although it sold well locally, the single did not make the national charts, and the scheduled follow-up, ‘I’m Through With You’, was never released because Mellomood Records had gone out of business. Disillusioned, the group broke up.
