Cadete e Baiano was the first vocal duo in the history of Brazilian recording business. Famous singers on their own at the time when they teamed up as a duo, Cadete and Baiano were part of the first group of Brazilian professional recording singers (together with Eduardo das Neves, Nozinho, and Mário Pinheiro). Together, Cadete e Baiano initially recorded six phonograms in Casa Edison's (the first recording company of Brazil) cylinders, announced in its first catalog of 1902: "Os 2 Crioulos," "Laura," "Desafio Português," "Serenata No Cemitério," the satire "Chegadinho," and "O Genro e a Sogra." In February 1913, the Casa Edison released another batch of albums from the duo: "Cabala Eleitoral," "Santa Catarina e Paraná," and "Portugal Monarquista."
