The bassist known primarily as Buddy Demon -- a scattering of other aliases to follow -- is a founding member of the Luxurious Panthers, a rockabilly outfit from Houston, TX. Demon has thumped his way through four discs with this group since 1994, always in the company of a guitarist and singer known simply as Ford but listing both Jackie Greason and Jackie Fetus as alternate stage names. In that department Demon is as competitive as the devil himself, claiming at least four other "rock star" names, half of which involve the first name "Buddy." One that doesn't is Bobby Hopeless.
Demon and Ford have continued to put together rhythm sections suitable to the raucous nature of this enterprise, smoothing over the rough edges with dabs of haircream and neatly rolled-up trouser cuffs. What they all call each other backstage is a matter of intrigue, not that there always is a backstage. Rhythm guitarist Shakes -- also known as Shakee and Derfus -- came along in 1996 to help pin down where Demon was in the chord progressions. As for drummers, it is a long list, made all the longer when Cody insists on also being called Lugnut, and Monty -- veteran of Houston rock band Catbird -- is also known as Monzie and Del.
