A child prodigy, Bobby Lewis began performing on variety shows such as the Kentucky Barn Dance and the Hi-Varieties show when he was just 11. Always small in stature, Lewis often strummed a lute rather than a guitar to accommodate his small hands, and it became somewhat of a calling card. Though he did score a few hits in the ‘60s such as "From Heaven to Heartache," "Love Me and Make It Better," and perhaps his best, "Hello Mary Lou," Lewis soon faded from the charts, and with the exception of a minor comeback on Phil Walden's revamped Capricorn label in 1979, his career pretty much petered out at the dawn of the ‘80s.
