An important component of the UK techno label Rising High Records’ roster is Mike Ash, whose home studio recordings have gradually established his reputation on the hardcore techno scene. However, his interest in dance music grew out of the late 80s acid house movement, a heavy nod to which occurs on Aural Assault’s Planet 303 EP. His work under this title is characterized by disconcertingly hard rhythms, broken by samples, often taken from film dialogue. As such he has released some of Rising High’s most successful tracks (‘Pink And Purple Experience’, ‘Total Techno’). He also records for RH sister label Sappho, under the title Space Cadet (Don’t You Want My Love and Third Wave EPs). He has formed his own record label, Dancing In Complete Apathy, and maintains links with Rising High.
