Amanda Jenssen is a Swedish pop singer who rose to fame on the television reality show Idol 2007 and made her chart-topping album debut in 2008 with Killing My Darlings. Born Jenny Amanda Katarina Bengtsson on September 12, 1988, in Lund, Sweden, she began her professional music career as the lead singer of the band Oh Hollie Neverdays with guitarist Viktor Rinneby. The band wrote its own songs and experienced some modest success. All the same, Jenssen auditioned for the fourth season of Idol and made her debut appearance on the show on September 3, 2007. She was a fan favorite that season, finishing as the second-place runner-up behind winner Marie Picasso in a dramatic finale in which she lost by only two percent of the vote. In the aftermath of her second-place finish on Idol 2007, Jenssen signed a recording contract with the Epic Records division of Sony Music and released her commercial debut single, "Do You Love Me," in January 2008. The song topped the Swedish singles chart for five weeks straight and set the stage for her full-length album debut, Killing My Darlings (2008), which likewise hit number one. Primarily written in collaboration with Pär Wiksten, the album spawned the follow-up hit singles "Amarula Tree," "For the Sun," and "Greetings from Space." There was also a one-off holiday single, "Another Christmas." The following year Jenssen released her second album, Happyland (2009), which once again was written in collaboration with Wiksten. The title track was released as the lead single and was a Top Five hit, as was the album itself.
