They may have been the Republic of Belarus' first entry ever into the Eurovision Song Contest, but the big question at the 2004 finals was "Will they marry?" The folk-leaning pop duo Alexandra & Konstantin (Alexandra Kirsanova and Konstantin Drapezo) came together in 1998. They started by playing cover versions of pop hits but soon started writing their own more folk-oriented music. They started work on their song "My Galileo" in 2000, but by the time it became a Eurovision nominee in 2003 it had gone through many revisions. At the 2004 Eurovision ceremony in Istanbul, Konstantin presented Alexandra with a ring he bought in one of the local markets. Despite numerous press inquiries and a curious audience, the duo refused to comment on whether it was a sign of their engagement.
