Carlo Actis Dato's work is better known now than in the '80s when this was recorded. The duo of cellist Laura Cutler (doubling on soprano sax and berimbau) and Dato (here playing bass clarinet and tenor sax) displays a more nuanced approach. This, along with Dato's first records, made quite a sensation when first released, but has lost a little of its edge with time. Still, there is great fun to be had and some fine music to boot. In 1999, Splasc(h) reissued this in a two-disc set that also includes the albums Noblesse Oblige and Oltremare.
