This is a somewhat unlikely album that largely succeeds. Bebop altoist Richie Cole and cornball tenorman Boots Randolph meet up somewhere between jazz and country. Actually Randolph sounds quite comfortable on such songs as "Body and Soul," "Good Morning Heartache" and even "Barnyard Be-Bop" while Cole makes tunes such as "Yakety Sax" and "Wabash Cannonball" completely crazy. The two sessions allow Randolph and Cole to guest with each other's groups and, with the exception of the dumb seven-song, four-minute medley that ends the LP, this encounter is better than expected.
