Until the CD era began, this LP from the celebrated RCA Vintage series was the best Wingy Manone album around. A sampler of the trumpeter-vocalist's Victor recordings, the 16 numbers on the album jump around chronologically but are fairly consistent. The highpoints include "Limehouse Blues," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms," "Blue Lou," "Swingin' at the Hickory House," "Mama's Gone, Good-bye" and "Dallas Blues"; among the sidemen are clarinetist Buster Bailey, tenor saxophonist Chu Berry and trombonist George Brunies.
