This Vintage Jazz album features performances by three musicians -- Art Blakey, Wynton Marsalis, and Sonny Stitt with Harry Edison -- who each prove more than capable of handling such timeless compositions as Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's "My Funny Valentine" and Gershwin's "Oh, Lady Be Good." Nothing here is revolutionary in approach, but rather refreshingly straightforward -- the perfect sort of approach for casual or light-hearted jazz fans who just want something simple and basic. Preceded by a first volume.
