Two of a Kind is an earlier anthology of the material covered by The Essential Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton. Both anthologies have 20 tracks, exactly half of which overlap. The songs exclusive to Two of a Kind are obscure album tracks, with the exception of the minor 1968 hit "Jeannie's Afraid of the Dark." "Fight and Scratch" and "I've Been Married Just as Long as You Have" are the kind of lovers' spats set to music that led listeners to believe that Porter and Dolly were romantically involved in real life, while "In Each Love Some Rain Must Fall" shows their tender side. Two of a Kind works well as a supplement to The Essential Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton, but omits too many important singles to suffice as a stand-alone anthology.
