AllMusic Review by

The ability of a three-piece rock band to create an incredibly rich, full sound has always been an amazement. Trampled, Beaten and Obeyed is an amazing recording. Without gimmicks and without generational angst, Weed, Inc. defies the musical trends of the moment and opts instead for earnest rock & roll convention. Acoustic guitars, touches of country rock, and a homespun element of sincerity fills the tracks on this recording, creating songs of immense emotion coupled with enjoyable lightheartedness. With wholesome goodness, "Bended Knee," "Queen Bee," and the thumping "King Eros" grab the listener with catchy hooks and memorable melodies. The influences of John Mellancamp and the Meat Puppets are easily identifiable, and that's what makes this disc such a welcome pleasure.
