Following a duet between Tim Olive and Jeffrey Allport and a solo recording by the latter, this 3" CD-R by guitarist Olive was the logical next step. Recorded as he lived in Osaka, Japan, in July 2001, it is presented in a wallet-sized cardboard sleeve like the previous Celo releases and limited to 200 copies. Although grounded in the microsound aesthetic he shares with Allport and a number of Japanese, American, and European improvisers (Taku Sugimoto and Adam Sonderberg, to name but two), his music is nevertheless richer in events. The minute details he explores on his prepared guitar are simply stunning. On the fifth and sixth of these seven untitled tracks, one can have a hard time believing in the all-acoustic nature of the sounds. Impressively strange.
