AllMusic Review by

This two-LP set has 20 swing-oriented recordings, mostly from the 1934-41 period. Although there are a few famous performances (such as Chick Webb's "Stompin' at the Savoy" and Harry James's "Who's Sorry Now"), this two-fer also contains many rarities including "One More Once" by the combined Duke Ellington and Count Basie Orchestras (which was not originally released on the album they did together) and performances by Baron Lee, Claude Hopkins, Stuff Smith, Gene Sedric, and Woody Herman (the latter from 1965). An interesting set that has not been reissued on CD.
