The Witnesses strut with a ballsy, glam-like rock sound on their debut self-titled EP. It's a clever mess of rowdy guitar licks layered under Oakley Munson's fashionably cool, Mick Jagger-like drawl. "(Walkin) Steppin Pneumonia" is a funkadelic blast of blues, while "Stole My Room" gets down and dirty with sinister country-rock. Pianist/organist Bonnie Bloomgarden gives the band a run for their money, for this rocker girl delivers a sweet edge to this New York City boys club; "Stop Pretending" kick-starts a vivacious, stylish appeal from the Witnesses, most certainly curtailing any kind of garage rock revival inclinations -- The Witnesses EP is sassy enough to stand alone.
