On this fourth volume of the five-LP series of radio transcriptions from Duke Ellington's underrated orchestra of 1946-47, all of the sets are enjoyable, often surpassing the level of Ellington's studio recordings of the period. Now with a six-member trumpet section and relatively new soloists in Al Sears, Jimmy Hamilton and Taft Jordan, Ellington continued his reign as one of the top bandleaders with swinging versions of "Happy Go Lucky Local," three W.C. Handy tunes and "Jam-A-Ditty."
