AllMusic Review by

Prior to forming his band the Buzzcocks, Pete Shelley released avant-garde pieces on his short-lived Groovy label. The Total Groovy features four underground albums from the mid-'70s, with each of its discs dedicated to a different artist (the short track list makes sense, knowing that the songs are improvisational and sometimes fall around the 20-minute mark). Along with Shelley's Sky Yen are the Free Agents' 3.33, Sally Smmit & Her Musicians' Hangahar (featuring the the Mekons' Sally Timms), and Strange Men in Sheds with Spanners' self-titled effort.
