"60 Degrees C" is one of best drum'n'bass tracks of 2002, furious darkcore meets dystopian suave-funk, with great tracts of rave whoops and whistling Underworld techno-tectonics. Jasper Byrne and Dean Fletcher had more to offer, happily, the result of which is 2002's excellent if weighty The Stars of Our Destination. Signed to J Majik's Infra Red, the dual producers work well with compression and a variety of ambient and tech-step textures. They ska up the triple gear of "Swerve," a jungle funhouse mirror image of Grim's "Last Request," and the slow booty-bass of "Low Rider" and the cheesy effects-heavy "Hydrophonics" are also terrifically interesting -- all three tracks are at least strong enough productions to oust worries of pent up disappointment by a one-trick wonder.
