This is the debut recording from the Nagoya, Japan-based Rising Pints. Their members hail from Ireland, the U.S., and Japan, and their style alternates between that of traditional Irish singing groups like the Dubliners and American singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III with his tongue-in-cheek acoustic pop style . Chief songwriter Brian Cullen is from Ireland and is responsible for implementing the Irish folk material, and American Mark Renne-Burke infuses the ubiquitous singer/songwriter elements but they both appear prone to writing the offbeat Wainwright-esque ditty. The two Japanese members Mayumi Nagaura and Eiji Wakami contribute accordion/tin whistle and percussion respectively.
