This set from Vitamin features the label's regular roster of remixers and producers tackling the music of Madonna. The results are iffy. Reworked versions of "Vogue," "Ray of Light," and "Justify My Love" are stylish but not distinctive, like the music you'd hear on the average chillout comp. Which is disappointing, since that means these producers had to really work at deadening these songs' natural vitality. "Beautiful Stranger" is a little better -- the vocalist gets points for channeling Madonna so desperately, and Dynamichrome's production is warm and percussive. And Skip Solder's "Like a Prayer" is worth a curiosity listen, since it turns one of pop's most exuberant singles ever into a solemn meditation on Enigma-like navel-gazing.
