AllMusic Review by

The third of eight two-LP sets reissuing all of Benny Goodman's Victor recordings from the swing era, this two-fer has such "killer dillers" as "Down South Camp Meeting," "St. Louis Blues" and two versions of "Bugle Call Rag," in addition to performances by the Benny Goodman Trio and his new Quartet (with vibraphonist Lionel Hampton), Ella Fitzgerald as a guest vocalist and trumpeter Ziggy Elman's first recordings with the band. In all there are 32 performances on this set that prove that Benny Goodman really did deserve the title, "the King of Swing."
