AllMusic Review by

On a scale of one-to-ten, with ten being perfection, this DVD might just rate an "11," one of two in the series (the other being volume six, which has a show hosted by Otis Redding). For show number 15, the scheduled star guest was Freddie King, and he is here; but apparently, Louis Jordan & the Tympany Five simply dropped in at the last minute and were put on camera, and they just sweep everything before them, leaving about five minutes for King at the end. And to judge from their performance here, Jordan and Company were a much solider act than their recordings of this period would lead one to believe. They rock, they roll, and they pretty much slay this reviewer, and their set is worth the price of the disc by itself -- it's fascinating as well as enlightening just to see how Jordan and Company were (with some success) taking their 1940s repertory and updating and still selling it to audiences in 1966, without any of the archness of an "oldies" act. Freddie King, who also appears on show number 14, is the icing on the cake. And the rest of what's here matches the extraordinary standards set by the first three volumes as well as everything after.
