This Tax LP contains an excellent cross section of pianist Teddy Wilson's work from the late '30s/early '40s. Wilson is heard with an all-star septet which includes trumpeter Jonah Jones, altoist Benny Carter and tenor saxophonist Ben Webster backing four fine vocals from the forgotten but talented Nan Wynn, taking four piano solos in 1938-39, playing "Lady Be Good" and accompanying three fine Helen Ward vocals with an octet in 1940, and jamming with a trio in 1941. Throughout these lesser-known performances, Wilson is heard at his prime, setting the standard for swing piano.
