AllMusic Review by

While many of the artists who recorded for Sam Phillips' Sun studio wouldn't obtain the legendary status as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, or Carl Perkins, every tune recorded at that Memphis studio is worth hearing. The multitude of early- to mid-'50s gospel, R&B, and blues tracks recorded at Sun stand up to any classics of those genres. Among the many rediscovered treasures included in this package are songs by the Prisonaires, Five Tinos, Four Dukes, and the Jones Brothers. "Just Walkin' in the Rain" by the Prisonaires is the original version that Johnnie Ray would have a hit with around the same time.
