AllMusic Review by Rob Theakston

The Spiritual Life/Ibadan camp in New York City has been releasing deep jazz-house of the highest caliber for a considerable amount of time. However, only recently have these releases been kidnapped from their initial vinyl-only format and put out on compact disc for a wider listening audience. Three tunes from Jepthé Guillame and two from house legends Ten City are the anchor of this compilation, with the 11-minute percussion jazz workout remix of "All Loved Out" being one of two compilation highlights. The second of the two comes from Kerri Chandler and label owner Joe Claussell's collaboration on "Escravos de Jó." It's ideal for early-morning home listening, or winding down after a late night at the clubs and bars, but those looking for an adrenaline-rush shot in the arm of dancefloor madness might not find what they're looking for here. This is pillow-and-blanket snooze house all the way. [This compilation was later reissued as a double-CD set in 2002 to give the label's non vinyl-purchasing fans a taste of the label's activities since Nuphonic's initial release.]
