Chanted rites belong to the Shartse Dratsang college of the Gelug order of Tantric Buddhism. This 66-minute recording comprises three substantial pieces, two of them a cappella and the other with ritual orchestra. The chanting, similar to that of the Gyoto monks but not identical, includes the remarkable "one-voice chording" technique and equally amazing music of the Tantric shawms. The recording, by David Lewiston, is good and the notes are among the best in their balance of background and music-specific detail.
