Rednex became an international sensation with their campy country-disco stomp "Cotton Eye Joe," a stupid, silly European view of American white trash culture. It was certainly a fun, guilty pleasure, but that can't be said for the rest of the album. Sex & Violins is filled with songs that sound like "Cotton Eye Joe" but aren't as infectious, funny, or catchy. For fans of the manic Euro-dance sound, it might provide some thrills, but most listeners will find the record tedious.
