It's unclear what segment of the listening population this Collector's Choice Music reissue is targeted to, but it does include the complete contents of two LPs by the Anita Kerr Singers, Reflect... and Velvet Voices and Golden Brass. The focus of the first, on songs written by the team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, makes for a pleasant (though innocuous) listen. The choir tackles a baker's dozen of the most well-known Bacharach standards, including "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?," "Walk on By," "I Say a Little Prayer," and "The Look of Love." As expected, there are few surprises. The Velvet Voices and Golden Brass album presents rock (and a few Broadway) standards of the day given the inimitable Anita Kerr treatment. There are one or two surprises (Donovan's "Lalena," Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child") that might pique the interest of a few listeners, but the world hardly needed more versions of "The Windmills of Your Mind," "My Way," and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." The two-fer makes for an hour of vaguely pleasant, nostalgic wallpaper -- but not much else.
