This collector's LP is split between the Wabash Dance Orchestra (a ten-piece group led by cornetist Red Nichols) and Ben Pollack's Californians. While the former band (which includes trombonist Miff Mole, pianist Arthur Schutt and drummer Gene Krupa) offers fine examples of hot dance music, Pollack's ensemble (heard in its first five recordings) has the recording debuts of clarinetist Benny Goodman and trombonist Glenn Miller. Most notable are "He's the Last Word" and "Waitin' for Katie." The LP is rounded off by the All-Star Orchestra's rendition of "I'm More Than Satisfied" (which also includes BG). Worth searching for, since not all of this material has been reissued on CD.
