This now out-of-print LP was a surprise big seller when it came out in 1956. The highly expressive cornetist Wild Bill Davison is backed by a string section led by Percy Faith and arranged by Marty Manning. The music is dominated by ballads and, although the charts are not at all challenging (making the style fall between jazz and mood music), Davison's melodic variations on such tunes as "Mandy Make Up Your Mind," "When Your Lover Has Gone" and "She's Funny That Way" hold one's interest.
