AllMusic Review by

One of the major post-war trad pianists to be based in New Orleans, Armand Hug recorded a series of superior LPs for the Australian Swaggie label in the late '60s/early '70s. This excellent set of solos features Hug on such numbers as "Sweet Purple Rose of Cairo" (one of five songs composed or co-written by Armand J. Piron), "Gulf Coast Blues," "I'm Sorry I Made You Cry," "Ugly Child," and "Mama's Gone Goodbye." This music has long deserved to be reissued on CD, for it features Armand Hug at his best.
