AllMusic Review by

Given the fact that even the least worthy of "alternative" female singer/songwriters got a good deal of attention around 1996 (Tracey Bonham?) it probably seemed that Paris Hampton stood a good shot at success -- her self-titled release is a very mainstream-oriented record that does a far more competent job with its indie and power-pop roots than quite a few of Hampton's contemporaries. Despite its competence, though, the record does suffer from the sense of disposability that comes along with mainstream trends -- it surely beats a lot of female-fronted pop-rock acts from its time, but that doesn't necessarily say a lot.
