The Primitives, a minor British mid-'60s R&B band best remembered for their single "You Said," issued the rare French Oh Mary EP in 1966. The four songs, three of them original, were competent soul-mod-rock, though nothing to place them on the level of the best British mod bands of the time. The best of these tracks, by far, is the lone non-original, "Oh Mary," with some really gutsy blues-soul riffing and an aggressively throaty, soulful lead vocal. All four of the songs, along with a previously unreleased demo version of "Oh Mary," appear on the Primitives compilation Maladjusted.
