AllMusic Review by

This unusual LP should greatly interest collectors. Included is a variety of previously unreleased material spanning a 24-year period in the great trumpeter's career. Armstrong is featured on broadcast versions of "Dinah" and "Twelfth Street Rag" with his big band, singing "Flat Foot Floogie" with The Mills Brothers, backing Frank Sinatra on "Blue Skies," rehearsing a couple of songs in 1947 with the all-star cast of the film A Song Was Born, performing five numbers at his famous Town Hall concert (including four on which he is backed only by a rhythm section) and playing two songs in a small group with Duke Ellington recorded a few months after their famous joint recording. Most of this music has still not surfaced on CD.
