AllMusic Review by

Cleopatra's ridiculously titled New Age Box: Ambient Trips Into Utopia is not new age, nor is it really a box set; instead, it's a straight repackaging of three albums originally issued on the Hypnotic label: Surface 10's Surface 10 (1996), Nitramelo's soundtrack album Genius Loci (1997), and Neo-Adventures' Big Daddy Tonight (1997). None of these albums can be classified as new age ambient; Neo-Adventures is an ambient techno group, and Surface 10 delves into edgy, experimental ambient techno and space-rock. Nitramelo's work could certainly be classified as ambient, but it's a little too dark to work for new age meditative purposes. The problem certainly isn't the music, and the box is essentially priced to offer three CDs for the cost of one; it's just that the packaging is offensively misleading, and buyers expecting a true "new age box" will end up with something very different.
