Million Yen take a serious attitude toward '80s power-pop. On both sides of this self-titled EP, resemblances to Soul Asylum, the Replacements, Goo Goo Dolls, and the Lemonheads can be found with their own added flute solos and occasional synthesizer leads. Comparisons aside, Million Yen provide an upbeat energy of full-on pop that remains flashy and youthful at the same time. No potential of watering down their music for mainstream appeal to be found on here -- just straight-up rock & roll fun that could instigate a party in any atmosphere.
