Oldies shows popped up like kudzu in the 1970s, and this document of the Jive Five comes from that time frame. The recording is blurry in spots, overpowered by a band playing a little too ham-fistedly in spots. Generally, however, this set works just fine, loaded with hits like "My True Story," "What Time Is It?," and "I'm a Happy Man," as well as crowd pleasers like the stomping "Hey Sam." Modern day doo wop albums seldom work, but this one does.
