Not a duet, these are solo performances recorded at the 1992 Savai Gandharva Music Festival in 1992. We have been up late and hear the morning rags from all-night concerts, along with some thumris. Bhimsen Joshi's hour-long recital of "Rankali" is a great treasure. He is in fine voice this night, is in no great hurry, and presents the music with great dignity, variety and excitement. He fully deserves his accolades as India's greatest living singer. Jasraj's Komal Rishab Asawari presents another mood: the lilting seven-beat rhythms give a contrast to the singers' styles, and the pairing is highly successful.
