Recording at Maxwell's in December of 1996, Hoboken's favorite '90s trio, the Gefkens, paired up with iconic guitar-blasting producer Don Fleming -- who helmed releases by Dinosaur Jr. and Teenage Fanclub -- for this six-track live offering. And, not surprisingly, Fleming's loud-fast rules apply, proving that the "power" in this pop is firmly in place. The indie rock punch of "Pavement Head" is undeniable, but frontman Matt Azzarto's knack for big hooks is affirmed on "Kid." Despite its desperate feel, the song soars. The same emotive vibe carries into the breakneck roll of "Anticipation," where the crowd sounds as stoked as the band is pumped. Only the dry guitar crunch of the closer, "Three White Boys," comes up short, but Live! Live! Live! is mostly ultra-vibrant.
