We were first drawn to sega by its tremendous, unself-conscious small-town charm and happy backwards waltz rhythm, but as the '80s wore on it became overpowered by its pretensions to international status and turned into faddish Franco-reggoid schmaltz. Fortunately, there has been a reaction against this trend, and here are two of its champions. Both use completely modern bands (including synth), but return the style to its pre-"world-music" glory. This is a premier summertime music, and not to be missed.
